American Marriage

The doctor's new accessory

falls asleep so comfortably

rides around in Aberdeen

and she loves her work

The rent burns a hole through me

winter coat sits heavily

these pants stain so easily

but she loves her work

Mindless worship of currency

brings a mother through pregnancy

these faces blur so endlessly

the strange paint on the world

the wheels turn with so much speed

the children had plenty to eat

the car crashed at the end of the street

I can't keep my mind clean

I keep it all in my refrigerator

an endless stock of whatever you need

she's serious but I'm the operator

they see something in me
